From The Southside to Vatican City

There’s something uncannily perfect about the idea of the Pope being a White Sox fan. Not the Cubs, or the smugness of a 12:10pm start in Wrigleyville, surrounded by yuppies that don't know ball—he chose the second team in the second city. Where success is rare, but tastes that much sweeter because of the hard times. The Sox represent patience, suffering, and loyalty through decades of ups and downs. Being a Sox fan isn’t about constant winning, it’s about belief in the greater good, regardless of the circumstances. If the Pope really rocks with the South Side, it makes sense. Faith and rooting for the White Sox both have one thing in common: sticking with it, no matter how many times it may test you.
